Destiny 2 player develops his own Infinite Forest that's actually endlessTime: Jan. 2, 2018 From: SCDKey
The endless forest at the heart of Destiny 2 Blizzard Key EU's Curse of Osiris DLC is, as Tim wrote last month, "infinite only in name". Far from the endless labyrinth that some players expected, the forest is actually a connective tissue between the beats of history, and once you have finished a segment, you get ripped off. An amateur developer and Destiny 2 player named Pheonise felt strong enough to make a mistake in putting together a concept for a truly infinite forest in just two days.
The Pheonise's system generates a series of levels generated by procedures that are interrupted by random events. This can be a boss fight, a horde defense or a riddle to solve. By completing these events, players will receive loot and have the opportunity to continue or leave the forest.
Yes, it's raw and finished (the enemies are cardboard cutouts), and as Pheonise shows in the previous video, Bungie works with an existing code base, which means that such a thing was never possible in Curse of Osiris.
But I think many Destiny 2 players will love the design, and remember: this is just the work of a two-day amateur developer. It is also interesting to see a different approach in action.
